Meet The Mentors

David

Salon Director

One of the original RRI line-up, David has been involved in every aspect of the business since 1987. He has been Managing Director of our Royal Exchange Square salon since it opened in 1993, and has led the team to win ‘Salon Team of the Year’ at the British Hairdressing Awards.

What sets David apart is his ability to create low-maintenance styles regardless of hair type. Be it poker straight, wildly curly or generally rebellious, David’s unmatched knowledge and experience enable him to create bespoke styles that are both flattering and practical to maintain. In fact, his philosophy on hair was put best by Coco Chanel when she said 'fashion is for those who lack taste, the rest of us have style'. It’s a philosophy that clearly works too: over 30 years David has completed around 45,000 haircuts, which is incredible by anyone’s standards.

David is also our regular team leader at T in the Park and has styled Ronan Keating, alt-J, Florence and the Machine, and many more.

Riccardo

Salon Director (owner)

It’s an usual route into the business, but Riccardo first came to RRI as a client at the Royal Exchange Square salon (in his own words “back when I still had hair”). He fell in love with the craft of hairdressing and the RRI ethos, and set about training under our founder Alan. That was 25 years ago. He was the first RRI Assistant to become a Salon Director, and his commitment has never waned – you’ll still find him in the salon seven days a week. One of our most experienced hairdressers, Riccardo works on all types of hair. Cutting, styling, colouring – he makes a masterpiece of everything he does. When he’s not in the salon, he might be off styling at high-profile events like T in the Park, or off riding his beloved Ducati motorbike.

Dylan

Salon Director (owner)

Dylan is both the Salon Director and proud owner of our George Square Salon.  He's also RRI’s Artistic Director. He’s a renowned session hair and editorial stylist and has worked at London Fashion week - most recently at London Collections for Men, working backstage at the Oliver Spencer and Rake shows. In addition to his backstage work Dylan has worked at the MOBOs, the Scottish BAFTAs, The Scottish Style Awards and T in the Park. His celebrity clients have included Katy Perry, Paloma Faith, Emeli Sande, Coldplay and Mumford and Sons.

Qualified to Schwarzkopf Master Colourist Degree level, Dylan has recently been appointed Schwarzkopf Ambassador for the UK and Europe, a role that will see him create, travel and work all over the world. In his own words, being a hairdresser is like being a sculptor or architect, and he promises to give clients the most tailor-made haircut of their lives. Dylan is a huge part of the RRI brand, and has developed the George Square salon to the top of its game; winning ‘Salon Team of the Year’ awards at both the prestigious British Hairdressing Business Awards and the Creative Head Most Wanted Awards in 2014.

Wil

Salon Director (owner)

Hairdressing powerhouse Wil is a seven-time nominee for Scottish Hairdresser of the Year at the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards. He has almost 30 years’ experience, during which time he has worked with industry greats such as John Frieda and celebrity Stylists including Gok Wan and Mark Hayes. His famous clients include Zoe Ball, Janice Street Porter, Michaela Strachan and Nick Nairn. Wil has been with Rainbow Room International since 1996 and is now a Director at both Stirling and Buchanan Street salons.

Andrew

Salon Director (owner)

Manager, artistic director, trainer, motorbiker – Andrew is a man of very many talents, as he’s proved repeatedly in his 13 years at RRI. A regular winner of in-house awards such as Assistant of the Year, he’s also the proud owner of a British Hairdressing Business Award. He loves working with shorter styles and creating long, textured looks – both involving techniques he now teaches to less-experienced Stylists. Qualified to Schwarzkopf Master Colourist Degree level, Andrew is also a backstage veteran at T in the Park, having styled musicians there for eight years.

Adrian

Salon Director (owner)

Adrian has been working in the industry for over 30 years, and his knowledge and expertise inspire every client who sits in his chair. Since he joined RRI in 1990, Adrian has attended numerous seminars in the UK and abroad, developing his skills to become one of our most respected hairdressers. His attention to detail is second to none and his full consultation will cover everything from your hair’s natural qualities to the end result you want to achieve. It’s this bespboke service that’s led to Adrian being awarded RRI ‘Salon Team of the Year’ six times in five consecutive years. Adrian has also been a finalist in ‘Manager of the Year’ at the British Hairdressing Business Awards.

Suzie

International Artistic Director (owner)

As International Artistic Director, Suzie is one of the most accomplished and influential stylists within RRI. She’s has been nominated for ‘Scottish Hairdresser of the Year’ an amazing ten times at the British Hairdressing Awards (she won the award in 2011), is a favourite at London Fashion Week, and is UK Ambassador for Schwarzkopf ‘Essential Looks’. Not forgetting her 20 years’ experience as an educator, travelling all over the world to pass on her knowledge and expertise. Quite frankly, Suzie has one of the most impressive CVs we’ve ever seen. As a client, this means you can look forward to a 6-Star salon experience unlike any other. From your initial consultation to the finishing touches, you’ll be in the hands of a true hair master, and the result will blow you away.

Yasmin

Salon Director (owner)

Yasmin is known for her trendsetting vision and amazing skill, and is one of the most influential and sought-after hairstylists in the country. She believes that the right colour can totally transform a person, and is passionate about creating bespoke, tailor-made looks to suit her clients’ individual needs. A true expert in the science behind cutting and colouring (she’s a genius with Balayage and Ombre techniques), Yasmin will consider your face shape, skin tone, personality and lifestyle during every consultation.

Yasmin recently led the salon to win the 2014 ‘Salon Team of the Year’ at the Creative Head Most Wanted Awards and British Hairdressing Business Awards.  She holds numerous individual awards too.  Additionally, she works closely with STV on an on-going basis to create makeovers and define trends.

John Paul

Salon Director

An RRI living legend, John Paul has been with the company since qualifying as a stylist. What drove him back then still drives him now – ensuring his clients leave the salon looking and feeling amazing. John Paul is a master of all hairdressing techniques, and his broad-ranging clientele reflects that. For him, hairdressing is about being both imaginative and expressive, always with an eye on the latest trends. It’s this experience and commitment that have taken John Paul backstage to style the Scottish BAFTA’s, and runs the backstage salon at Scotland’s premier music festival TITP, where he’s styled a massive list of celebrities including Imagine Dragons, Stereophonics  and the mighty James Brown.

Coco

Salon Director (owner)

Coco has worked with RRI for 26 years, building strong expertise in every aspect of the profession. She has travelled the world with our Artistic Team, styling for photo shoots, shows and seminars, and also taught at our Academy for several years. Yet working directly with clients is still her main passion, enabling her to continually perfect her techniques and keep up-to-date with current trends. Coco’s creative strengths are edgy geometric shapes, colour, working with natural movement and guiding young stylists to success. Over the years, she has won several in-house awards, both personally and for the salon, which won RRI Salon Team of The Year 2013, and was a finalist for Salon Team of The Year at the 2013 British Hairdressing Business Awards.
